3:30 pm came and went today and nobody brought me a chocolate chip cookie. After four days of being treated like royalty, it seems I'm having a tough time returning to normal life. I just got back from a four-day quilting retreat where I got to sew all day, explore a charming town in the evening and was put up in the most marvelous hotel. It really was the best time. The daily cookie break was just the icing on the cake.
If you like to applique, or want to learn to applique, keep this retreat in mind for next year. Here's the link to the website: Applique Away on Galveston Bay. It was one of the best organized events I've ever attended. Galveston is a fun place to be this time of year--it's warm enough to be comfortable, but it's not yet crowded with tourists. The classes and evening activities were varied and well planned. And the guest speaker, Sue Garman (look for her quilt patterns here) was inspirational. I can't wait to see what happens next year. However the very, very best part of the retreat was the warm, funny, talented and friendly group of quilters that I met while I was there.
